For decades, data analytic techniques have been used to provide insight and decision-making. In moving towards digital economy by 2020, Malaysia should be able to cope with fast-changing business and technology landscape that have grown to such an extent that many organizations are facing overwhelming amounts of data, organizational complexity, rapidly changing customer behaviors and increased competitive pressures. Is Malaysia ready to embrace the new developments around Big Data Analytics for the government, business, and its citizens?

Suitable and acceptable framework or methodology has to be prepared to overcome the worry on lacking of talent to push BDA initiative in ensuring BDA are well embraced by  our people, given the fact it is still at an early stage and still seen as ‘future trend’, not ‘current trend’ in Malaysia.

Having involved in large-scale transformation in both public and private sectors, The iA Group finds organisations continue to face serious challenges to execute business transformation in order to align their business to the changing economic landscape. Our expertise lies in linking datasets to visualize data derived from system that can be used across many disciplines, in line with our vision for clients to identify growth opportunities while adapting their internal system and culture for continuous innovation.

The iA Group hosted a Big Data Analytics in Public Administration Forum to provide insights as to:

  1. How BDA can evolve in public sector
  2. What key challenges public sector organizations are facing these days
  3. How to turn Information Asset into valuable insights towards better public service: i.e reduce cost and generate revenue.

These are key imperatives for successful BDA to give meaningful meaning to fundamental shift in this area of information economy.

Few issues were discussed among panelist and guests during the forum:-

  • Where are the critical gaps in training and skills?
  • What are some opportunities for Big Data in healthcare, education and social analytics?
