The job market has undergone some fundamental changes in terms of technology, source of recruitment, competition in the market and lack of talents. As such, the staffing approach has to be revisited. In light of the challenges,  it is crucial for an organisation to review its staffing policy and process to optimize its investment - in order to obtain and retain  the right number of quality employees to satisfy the demanding human capital requirement.
The challenges today faced by HR Practitioners caused by the changing business landscape calls for a new approach to consider the turnover – bad or good, the cost of replacement and the quality of the new hires - to add value to the economy as a whole. In conjunction with that, the future workforce has to be exposed to the new employment model approach.  Therefore, preparation of the future workforce begins with managing the organisations’ expectations.

To address the issues and challenges in workforce transformation, Careerxcell and The iA Group hosted a Roundtable entitled Employment Challenges – Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow. The purpose of the Roundtable was to bring together HR practitioners to explore important issues and to discuss staffing policy and processes to optimize their investment.

The Roundtable was designed to maximize discussion opportunities and exchange of ideas and experiences. Among the issues discussed were:

1.       The impact of technology advancement in the working world.

The skills required to match the future labour market needs.

New policy tools required to deal with the shifts in jobs and employment opportunities.

4.    Ways to manage the Generation Y.

5.    How attract and retain graduates.

The forum was a success, and the event was graced by attendees from Affin Bank, Asia Aviation Centre, DRB Hicom, Eco World, ICLIF, Karangkraf,  KLMUC, KWSP, SME Corp, Takaful Malaysia & Teraju.
